San Antonio's Cuishe at St. Paul Square rebranding as 'laid-back cantina space'
Cuishe Cocina Mexicana is rebranding as Cuishe Cantina, and its menu focus will shift to include more Tex-Mex dishes.
New year, new Cuishe Cocina Mexicana.
The Gusto Group-led restaurant concept known for elevated Mexican cuisine is rebranding its St. Paul Square location, 119 Heiman St., as Cuishe Cantina.
Gusto Group CEO Gerardo de Anda confirmed the change to the Current on Friday. Teasing a fully revamped food and drink menu, he described Cuishe Cantina as a “laid-back cantina space with a Mexican sports bar-style vibe.”
The St. Paul Square eatery's new iteration will debut the first week of February. Its updated menu will focus more on Tex-Mex cuisine as opposed to Cuishe’s signature spin on upscale Mexican fare.
However, Cuishe's Stone Oak location — 115 N. Loop 1604 East #1108 in La Arcata Plaza — will remain unchanged in concept, space and menu. Gusto Group recently opened whiskey-and-cigar bar Books adjacent Cuishe in the same shopping center.
Gusto Group operates multiple other concepts in St. Paul Square, including Boombox Pizza Bar, Stylus Mixology, Toro Kitchen + Bar and Cellar Mixology.
