San Antonio's Toro Kitchen + Bar offering half-off deal for National Paella Day
To commemorate National Paella Day on Thursday, March 27, San Antonio's Toro Kitchen + Bar will offer half-off paellas at all three of its restaurants. The special, shared exclusively with the Current by Gusto Group CEO and Toro Kitchen + Bar founder Gerardo de Anda, will be available for that one day only.
Paella selections at Toro range from arroz con costra — featuring morcilla, Spanish chorizo, pork belly and egg — to the restaurant’s award-winning house paella, a blend of jumbo shrimp, mussels, chicken, calamari, pork belly and Spanish chorizo.
Toro’s $34 white or red sangria pitchers also will be half-off all day, according to de Anda.
Further, Paella lovers will have a shot at winning $100 Toro gift cards via an upcoming post about the paella special on the chain's Instagram page. Those who like the post, follow the Instagram page and DM “Es Toro o Nada” will get a chance to win a gift card. One winner will be selected for each of Toro's three locations.
After a near-death call with a bull named Caramelo during Spain's fabled Running of the Bulls, de Anda launched the first Toro restaurant in Stone Oak in 2017. Chef Juan Bazaan leads the kitchen for the since-expanded concept, and artistic depictions of Caramelo watch over guests in its dining rooms.
Toro also received recent certification from Restaurants from Spain, an organization that recognizes dining spots worldwide for their dedication to authentic Spanish cuisine. It's the only restaurant in San Antonio with the distinction.
