Stylus Mixology and Boombox Pizza Bar bringing nostalgia to St. Paul Square
St. Paul Square's newest tenants, Stylus Mixology and Boombox Pizza Bar, will take guests back in time.
Dig in: Gusto Group CEO Gerardo de Anda (who also owns Cellar Mixology, Bunker Mixology, Cuishe and Toro) is the mind behind Stylus and its pizza-focused counterpart. Boombox is on the first floor and Stylus is on the second.
- Both businesses are currently in a soft opening.
The vibe: Stylus is a 25-and-up bar inspired by the glamorous New York nightclub Studio 54. It has touches of nostalgic opulence with flashing lights, mirrored walls and neon signs. Music will be reminiscent of the 1970s and 1980s.
- "It's definitely all about disco fever," Gusto Group spokesperson Sofia Bretton tells Axios.
- There's also a terrace overlooking East Commerce Street.
Boombox Pizza Bar focuses more on the '80s and early '90s, with throwback videos and movies playing throughout the space.
- It also has hand-picked thrift finds available for sale.
Zoom in: Stylus follows Gusto Group's signature mixology style. Bartenders craft each drink amid an ambiance of lights, lasers and smoke, Bretton says.
- The menu features drinks that are odes to throwback hits like "Jessie's Girl," "Paradise City" and "Tainted Love."
- "Pour Some Sugar on Me" — a sweet drink with vodka and bubblegum extract ($12) — is a must-try, Bretton says.
Boombox will have a menu of 11 nine- and 16-inch pizzas including the Al Pastorcito, which comes with black beans, pastor, cilantro, pineapple, red onion and salsa.
- The bar also has wine, beer and Jell-O shots.
What's next: The grand openings for Stylus and Boombox are June 28 and July 12, respectively.
If you go: The bars will be next door to Lilly's Greenville at St. Paul Square.
- A dress code is enforced at Stylus, so no jerseys, headwear, shorts or sandals.
- Stylus is open 5pm-2am, Wednesday through Saturday.
- Boombox is open Monday through Sunday. Hours vary, but the kitchen will be open late.
