Toro Kitchen + Bar celebrating National Paella Day with half-off deals
A San Antonio restaurant is celebrating National Paella Day on Thursday by serving special deals on the Spanish dish.
Toro Kitchen + Bar — which has locations in Stone Oak, La Cantera and downtown — will be serving paella and sangria pitchers for half price. A DJ will be playing at the Stone Oak location at 7 p.m.
The restaurant is also giving away three $100 gift cards to be used on National Paella Day to participants who enter the drawing on social media.
Paella is a mixture of rice, vegetables and meat cooked in a large, round pan with a flat bottom.
First cooked by Valencian farmers in 15th-century Spain, according to one likely theory, paella involves a social event, with loved ones gathering around the pan to cook and eat together.
National Paella Day is observed annually on March 27, according to multiple culinary sources.
